Establishment of a Solar Energy Chinese-Bavarian Joint Venture
October 2, 2018
At a meeting with Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs Franz Josef Pschierer, with Gao Shengli, Chairman of Zhonglan Aviation, and Rosario De Luca, Managing Director of SCYLAX GmbH (and of EADCO GmbH), and with Calin Gologan, Managing Director of SCYLAX GmbH and of Elektra Solar GmbH, the parties signed a cooperation agreement for a groundbreaking aviation joint venture.
The three companies will together undertake the development and production of several electric aircraft, including the world's first electric 6 and 10 seat aircraft designated as E6 and E10.
The cooperation between China and Germany to initiate the development of the world's largest research and development (R&D) and production center for electric aircraft counts on accelerating the implementation of the "Made in China 2025" program in the field of general aviation.
The Chinese private enterprise Zhonglan Aviation, will work in cooperation with the German companies Scylax GmbH and Elektra Solar GmbH to establish a world leading organization in the development and production of electric aircraft. The parties will work together in the research, development, production, distribution and global marketing of electric aircraft and jointly will co-found the world's leading (electric) aircraft R & D and manufacturing center in China. In addition to the 10 seats passenger and transport electric solar aircraft E10, the joint venture will also develop a two-seat electric training aircraft and a light manned solar powered aircraft.
The German companies Scylax GmbH and Elektra Solar GmbH have developed a number of internationally leading core technologies in the field of electric aviation, drawing from successful decades of Aerospace and cutting-edge technology development experience.
Resulting from the cooperation agreement between Zhonglan Aviation, Scylax GmbH and Elektra Solar GmbH and the significant investment in the venture, Zhonglan Aviation will acquire full rights to the Chinese market for Elektra Solar's "Elektra One Solar" aircraft and "Elektra Two Trainer" and will establish a joint venture company in China as the sole partner of Scylax GmbH. Scylax GmbH will bring its know-how, technical resources and related rights, research and development teams and training to the joint venture.
The newly formed joint venture company will produce the commercial aircraft E6 and E10 models in China. The Chinese and German partners endeavor to establish themselves as a strong, global partner in the field of green technology and the future applications of sustainable energy technologies in electronic aviation.
About Elektra Solar GmbH
The aircraft Elektra One
was the first electrically powered ultralight aircraft in Germany and was
developed by the Bavarian company PC-Aero. The first flight took place in March
2011 at Augsburg airport and lasted 30 minutes. Already in June 2015, Elektra
One successfully completed an Alpine crossing as the first electrically powered
aircraft. Here, the aircraft covered a 200km long track, partly at a peak
altitude of over 3000m in about 2.5 hours.
By merging with the
companies PC-Aero GmbH and Elektra UAS GmbH, the company was registered in 2016
as Elektra Solar GmbH in the commercial register. To this day, the technology
is being further developed and, in the meantime, a complete family of
solar-electric aircraft has been developed. Elektra Solar GmbH works with
aerospace systems in the weight class from 10kg to 1000kg and can prove
far-reaching experience in the certification of aircraft. A key focus of the
development lies in the area of manned and unmanned, or optionally piloted
aircraft with wings, as well as the autonomous control of helicopters.
